It is smaller than average Chain-Chomps

Gold Chomps are golden Chain Chomps found in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It is located in a Pipe on Bean Valley. They are very powerful, in fact about as powerful as the first Smithy Gang boss, Mack.

Another Gold Chomp appears in Pianta Village of Super Mario Sunshine. After a Lava Chomp was cooled in the Pianta Sauna, it would turn into a Gold Chomp.
