Move to Giant Magikoopa?

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or a question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

There is a suggestion on the page for Big Magikoopa, and I agree that it should be changed to Giant Magikoopa. Unless they are referred to as "Big Magikoopa"s in the games, it would be better to change it to Giant Magikoopa. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope refers the enemy as "Giant Magikoopa", so changing the name to Giant Magikoopa would be more fitting. User:Mason Popovich Monday, January 9, 2023 17:55 (EST)

This is in a similar situation as Giant Goomba; the Giant Magikoopa in this case has Darkmess, which may make it transformative enough from regular Big Magikoopas. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:30, March 28, 2023 (EDT)

Move to Giant Magikoopa proposal

I think that Big Magikoopa should be moved to Giant Magikoopa because there are not any sources that indicate that it is their confirmed name. One such Big Magikoopa in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is referred to as "Giant Magikoopa", and Super Princess Peach refers to Kamek's Giant form as Giant Kamek, not by using the word "big".

Support

  1. Sparks (talk) Per proposal above.
  2. {User|PrincessPeachFan}} Giant Magikoopa is technically speaking the newer name so it should be moved to that.

Oppose

  1. Camwoodstock (talk) Now, hear us out here--we don't think you're wrong in asserting the Sparks of Hope Magikoopa is unique. But we don't think renaming this page is the way to go, for one key reason; in Mario Sports Superstars, a game which released within the last console generation (2017), they do name an ordinary large Magikoopa as "Big Magikoopa", so the generic name for these guys is probably still that. However, the Sparks of Hope Magikoopa's unique appearance and (from a glance, we never played that game) unique abilities, in addition with the Japanese name being entirely different and making zero such mention of size, we think what's probably better is if the Sparks of Hope "Giant Magikoopa" were split off from this article, rather than renaming this article to suit its needs, especially seeing as there are many more distinctive traits to him than just his above-average size. This is kind of an edge case, however, and we'd like to know if anyone else feels a split is better than renaming this.

Comments

The Japanese name may be entirely different but it should be noted that Giant Magikoopa is still the most recent name and also the powering up enemies thing is basically an extension of what Magikoopas can do in the first two Paper Mario games (namely causing enemies to grow in size which boosts their attack power).
