Mario fighting the King Magma Blooper on Magma Planet.

King Kaliente is a boss in Super Mario Galaxy. He is fought on the left route in the demo at E3. Also, King Magma Blooper doesn't resemble a Blooper. He strongly resembles Octos from Yoshi's Safari, who only make an appearance during a miniboss battle underwater. He appears on the cover of Super Mario Galaxy.

King Kaliente is basically a lava octopus galaxy god, one of the kings of the galaxy. His crown could tell that he is the king of the Octos, but only when Super Mario Galaxy is released will that be known.

Possible Relatives

Combat

The enormous lava-bathing creature emerges from the pond of lava on Magma Planet, settling his tentacles on the sides and floating in the middle. His attacks consist of spitting yellow, glowing, miniature comets at Mario that Mario must whack back at it with a Spin Jump, practically, as quoted from a reporter at E3, "Playing tennis with the boss."

It also uses its tentacles for the battle, mainly just moving them around a bunch. If they touch Mario, he gets injured. Once Mario hits King Kaliente enough times, his crown will fly off, revealing his antenna.

Full Battle

Once Mario comes up to the top of Magma Planet, the king will emerge from the lava pool and shake his head, angered that Mario has awakened him, then the battle will begin. He will first spit out three fireballs that Mario cannot touch without hurting himself, then King Kaliente will spit out a yellow comet of molten rock. Mario must perform a Star Spin or a Spin Jump to whack it back at him, then the king will throw it back at Mario. If Mario whacks it at him three times in a row without letting the comet pass behind himself, he will knock the king's crown off. If it is missed, the fireballs and comet attacks will be done again repeatedly until Mario knocks the crown off.

King Kaliente will get very angered after his crown falls and sinks into the lava, then unleash a big roar of wind, blowing the lava around and sprouting little bouncing Lava Bouncers, that will bounce on the lava or on the ground toward Mario for the rest of the battle. If they touch Mario, they will burn him and cause him to lose up to two HP.

Then, the process must be done again, hitting the king three times in a row with a comet. Afterward, a big bang will hit King Kaliente, and he will be knocked out and will collapse back into his lava hot tub-home. A Star will sprout out of the lava and appear next to Mario, the Lava Bouncers will vanish.

Outlook

File:Crownless.jpg
King Kaliente, after Mario knocked his crown off. This can be done by hitting him three times in a row with a comet.

The King Kaliente is like a gigantic orange Blooper mixed with an octopus, sitting in lava. More clearly, he is a mega-sized Cosmic Blooper. To make things more think-about-able, he has a crown, making him a king of the Cosmic Bloopers (Goomba King, for example). His antenna on his head has a red orb on top, resembling a Cosmic Blooper. Other features include a white mustache and his unique skin color.

A Flashback?

Octopus, a boss from Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins resembles King Magma Blooper in several ways. Though King Kaliente is most likely a Cosmic Blooper, Octopus and King Kaliente look very similar making it entirely possible that they are related.
