Ostros were ostriches that Shy Guys could ride in Super Mario Bros. 2. They hop along the ground and run back and forth when they don't have a rider. Use them for a boost to get over enemies or obsticles. In the credits of the game, Ostro's and Birdo's names were switched. This, like many other mistakes, was fixed in remakes of the game. It would make sense to have Ostros be called Birdos because they are, in fact, birds. But it also makes sense to be called Ostros since their actual species are ostriches.
Although an obscure character who probably wouldn't even have been noticed if not for the credits mistake, there are some fans who want Ostros to make a comeback.
