Czar Dragon, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

The Czar Dragon is the boss of the Barrel Volcano and the guardian of the sixth Star Piece in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This dragon is a master of fire magic, though he also knows as substantial number of earth magic spells, including the misleadingly named Water Blast earth attack. After Mario and his party defeat the Czar Dragon, the monster immediately returns from the grave as the menacing Zombone.

  • "Czar" is a Russian title meaning "Emperor," derived from the title "Caesar" used during the Roman Empire. "Kaiser," the Japanese name for the dragon, comes from the German word for "Emperor," which was also derived from the title of "Caesar".
  • An unused enemy named "Magidragon" has an identical appearance to the Czar Dragon.
