His English name is a pun on the name of famous Russian composer {{wp|Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky}}, although his hair looks more like that of {{wp|Johann Sebastian Bach}}. During the events of ''[[Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars]]'', Toadofsky has "composer's block"; he is trying to create a brand new symphony, has had no inspiration to work from. Additionally, if he does not come up with a song and make some money soon, he will have to compose video game music for games starring a hedgehog.<ref name="page31">''Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars'' Nintendo Player's Guide, page 31. "''While waiting for inspiration, he's been drawing down his savings. If Mario returns to Tadpole Pond, he can play these melodies to Toadofsky as inspiration by leaping on the tadpoles in certain positions, the pond resembling a staff. As a reward, Toadofsky will give Mario special membership cards used to purchase special items at the Tadpole Pond [[Item Shop]], the Juice Bar. After giving him the three melodies, Toadofsky allows Mario to compose the last quarter of the symphony himself. During the ending, Toadofsky is seen putting on a concert with [[Frogfucius]] attending it.
