- Nintendo's upcoming game console, the Nintendo Switch (pictured), was unveiled on October 20, 2016 and announced to be released in March of 2017. A tech demo for a 3D Mario game as well as a Mario Kart game resembling Mario Kart 8 were also briefly shown.
- Mario Party: Star Rush was released on the Nintendo 3DS in Europe on October 7, 2016, in Australia on October 8, and in Japan on October 20.
- Paper Mario: Color Splash was released on the Wii U in Europe and the Americas on October 7, 2016, in Australia on October 8, and in Japan on October 13.
