The basic Gabon.

A Gabon is a small, Clubba-like enemy from Yoshi's Story. It may be a sub-species of Spike, another Clubba-like enemy from Super Mario Bros. 3.

Gabons appear in the level Jungle Hut on Page 4. They regurgitate spiked balls (like Spikes) and roll them down hills. The Yoshis may eat them, but the Green Yoshi likes them best.

According to the text seen after beating the level, the Baby Yoshis apparently met one specific Gabon named "Gabon" while entering his hut. All that is known abot the encounter is that the angered Gabon threw various objects at the Baby Yoshis.

Trivia

  • "Gabon" is also the name of an African country, which is fitting for these creatures because they're in a jungle-like area. However, it is unlikely that Gabons were named after this country, as "Gabon" also happens to be the Japanese name of the aforementioned Spikes.
