Fruit are the favorite food of the Yoshies. Many fruits grow wildly in the Mushroom World that depend on cultivated land in the real world. Fruits made their first appearence in Super Mario World, in the form of large red apples or berries growing on bushes. Yoshi could eat them for the value of one Coin, however; no points are given when a fruit is eaten.

Fruits found in the Mushroom Kingdom

  • Apples-Red Yoshi's favorite.
  • Grapes-Blue Yoshi's favorite.
  • Watermelons-Green Yoshi's favorite.
  • Bananas-Yellow Yoshi's favorite.
  • Melons-The favorite fruit of all Yoshis!

Fruits also appear in Yoshi's Story, where if you eat enough fruit you would advance to the next level. In Super Mario Sunshine, Yoshis need a lot of fruit. When riding a Yoshi, you had to give it a lot of fruit or it would go back to it's egg.

Another kind of fruit appears in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, named Bean Fruit.
