Klaptraps are Kremlings that originated in Donkey Kong Country. They are lizard-like creatures with large mouths, hence their name. They come in blue and red varieties.

Although they generally stay in DK games, they occasionally visit the Marioverse. Klaptraps proved to be distractions in DK's course in Mario Superstar Baseball. The Klatraps tried to bite the outfielder's heels, slowing them down. However, if you were to hit the baseball into a Klaptrap's mouth, it would give you a Team Star.

They also appeared in Mario Power Tennis in Donkey Kong's course. They tried to bite the player, causing the player to slow down.
