  • The name Squiglet probably derives from squirt (as in, something small) and piglet. They name may also derive from squid, a deep-sea mollusk related to the octopus, from which the similar Octorok is derived from.
  • Based on its name, it is plausible that a Squiglet is actually a baby Squig.
  • Squiglets, or more accurately their relatives, were probably based on Octoroks from the Legend of Zelda series.
