“Here...Have some bombs!”
Mouser, Super Mario Advance

Mousers are mice that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. These mice have sunglasses and gloves. Only two appear in Super Mario Bros. 2 and both are bosses.

There are sub-species of Mousers named Little Mouser who appear Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It's possible that they are younger self of Mousers. Other sub-Species include Nomadimice, and Squeeks.

The First Two Mousers

A Mouser in Super Mario Bros. 2 the first boss in the game, fought at the end of World 1 (SMB2). He attacks by throwing Bombs at Mario and friends, which the heroes must use against him. After dodging the Bombs, they should pick them up and throw them back at Mouser before they explode. It will take three hits before the Mouser is defeated.

Later on, the heroes must face Mouser again at the end of World 3 (SMB2). He must be fought in the same way as the first time, but this time he takes more hits to defeat. This second battle was replaced by Robirdo in Super Mario Advance. Finally, Mouser is fought at the end of World 6 (SMB2). This time, this Mouser is much harder, and is a different, tanner color.

Mousers Return

A Mouser appears as a boss in Mario Party Advance, but this Mouser more closely resembled a Squeek. It is possible that this is a different color.

In Other Media

Although Mouser was not featured in another Mario game for many years, he has played a big part in the game's marketing. He was a semi-regular on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, which cast him as King Koopa's right-hand minion. John Stocker provided the voice for Mouser, who spoke with a German accent in the series. Also a new kind of Mouser was introduced here called Mousersaurus Rex.

Mouser also occasionally appeared in the Super Mario Bros. comic books, which provided a backstory for him. According to the story "A Mouser in the Houser", there was a Mouser King, king of all Mousers. But he was corrupted by Bowser, and as a result, his now-leaderless subjects now steal vegetables for food. Interestingly, Mouser himself was not as much of a major character in the comics as he was in the cartoon.

Character and Species

Many fans say that Mouser is a character and not a species while others disagree. The only times more than one Mouser were seen together in one scene was in one Super Show episode, Princess, I Shrunk the Mario Brothers. However only one Mouser in that episode had a major role, the other one only appeared for a second.
