Beezos are a sub-species of Shy Guys that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, where they came in two colors: Red and Pink. This sub-species appear to use tridents as weapons. They also have wings on their back which allow them to fly.

The Beezos attack by charging towards Mario or one of his friends (Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad). They normally appear in packs. There is an seemingly infinite number of Beezos and thus, they won't dissapear until the player leave the portion of the level they appear in.

There are two ways to defeat a Beezo. The players can use the Vegetables or other objects and throw it to one of them. Another method is to jump on one of them, pick him up and throw him.

Beezos made several appearances in The Super Mario Bros Super Show!, usually serving as guards. In the episode "Love 'Em and Leave 'Em", instead of working for King Koopa, they worked for Queen Rotunda. Near the begnining of the episode, they attacked Mario and his friends; however Mario and his friends fought them with vegetables.

A similar species called a Shy Away appears in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
