The '''Hammerhead Bros.''' are two master blacksmiths from ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'' who resemble, forge, and upgrade [[Hammer]]s. The older brother, '''Sledge''', is red, while his younger brother, '''Mallet''', is green, much like [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]]. They are first encountered in [[Hoohoo Village]], after Mario and Luigi's path is blocked by a rock dropped by [[Fawful]]. Mario and Luigi must supply the Hammerhead Bros. with [[Hoohoo Block]]s to create Hammers, which can then be used to destroy the rock. Before Mario and Luigi enter [[Beanbean Fields]], the Hammerhead Bros. arrive to teach them how to use their hammer in battle.


The '''Hammerhead Bros.''' are two master blacksmiths from ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'' who both resemble and forge [[Hammer]]s. They tend to argue over little things, like which technique is better, which Hammer is better, etc.. Mario and Luigi first encounter them in [[Hoohoo Village]], where their progress is impeded by a large rock. Mario and Luigi have to supply them with [[Hoohoo Block]]s to create Hammers. Just before the Mario Bros. enter the [[Beanbean Kingdom|Beanbean Overworld]], the Hammerhead Bros. arrive just in time to teach them how to use Hammer attacks in battle.
Later, the Hammerhead Bros. are visited in their new homes at [[Beanbean Fields]] by Mario and Luigi after visiting [[Oho Oasis]] and [[Gray Rock|a stronger rock]] blocks their path to [[Teehee Valley]]. The Hammerhead Bros. gladly upgrade their hammers to [[Super Hammer]]s. The hammers are upgraded once more to [[Ultra Hammer]]s when Mario and Luigi are blocked by [[Black Rock|an even stronger rock]] towards [[Oho Ocean]].

In ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]'', the Hammerhead Bros. reprise their role in the main story. Additionally, before Mario and Luigi go to Teehee Valley, they will appear near the entrance of [[Beanbean Castle]], telling them that they have moved to the caverns of [[Beanbean Fields]]. They are also not there until then.


Later, the Mario Bros.' progress is once again impeded by a gray colored rock leading to [[Teehee Valley]]. The Mario Bros. are out of options, but after some exploring, they find the Hammerhead Bros.' new home. The Hammerhead Bros. gladly offer to help them and upgrade their Hammers to [[Super Hammer]]s. Later, when they need to traverse the [[Oho Ocean]], the Mario Bros. return to upgrade their Super Hammers to [[Ultra Hammer]]s to break the dark rock blocking access to the eastern sea.
During ''Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser'', [[Captain Goomba (Mario & Luigi series)|Captain Goomba]] and his squad encounter the Hammerhead Bros. in the level [[For the Love of Hammers]], where the bros. welcome a pair of Hammer Bros. into their family, and sing a song about their love for Hammers together. Captain Goomba asks the Hammer Bros. to join their squad, but they don't want to leave until they hear that [[Bowser]] is in danger. Sledge suggests to have a battle to decide the outcome, with Mallet adding that the loser should do what the winner says. As Captain Goomba emerges victorious, the Hammerhead Bros. say goodbye, while the Hammer Bros. encourage the two that they will be able to make the Ultra Hammer someday. For a parting gift, the Hammerhead Bros. wish to sing the hammer song again. Captain Goomba refuses when asked to hear the song again, which prompts Sledge to tell him how to view cutscenes he has already seen.
