Ganondorf (also known as Ganon) is the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda series, and is the archenemy to Link and Zelda. Originally a leader of the Gerudo, a race of desert brigands, he acquired great magical power (the source of which varies) to become a demon emperor of darkness. Ganondorf's motives and desires vary from game to game, but most often include the domination of Hyrule and probably the world beyond it. To this end he seeks relic of the the gods known as the Triforce, which can allow great power upon its holder. Ganondorf's influence over the Triforce varies, but he is consistently shown as being associated with the Triforce of Power and is often in possession of it, giving him great strength but not enough to fulfill his dark desires, leading him to hunt the remaining Triforce pieces. He appears fighting with Mario and other Nintendo characters in the Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In the crossover game Super Smash Bros. Melee, Ganondorf was an unlockable fighter. He was unlocked by beating Event Match 29: Triforce Gathering, and then beating Ganondorf in the next match. In both matches, the player uses Link. Ganondorf has a similar moveset to Captain Falcon. However, Ganondorf's attacks are much slower than Falcon's, and are much more powerful. Added up, Ganondorf's B Button attacks are easy to use, but his A Button moves act as a trouble maker. In Melee, he was voiced by Takashi Nagasako, who also voices Donkey Kong in most of the Mario games.

Ganondorf returns as an unlockable playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, with his Twilight Princess design. He can be unlocked by beating Classic Mode with Link or Zelda on hard difficulty, playing 200 Brawl matches, or having Ganondorf join the team in the Subspace Emissary. His Final Smash is Beast Ganon, which features him turning into his beast form, Ganon.

Warlock Punch is one of Ganondorf's attacks in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is done by pressing B Button on its own. Once done, Ganondorf will prepare a powerful punch of shadow energy while yelling, and punch forward, severely damaging anyone who gets in the way. If he hits someone, they will also be damaged by dark matter. The attack is very slow, and can leave Ganondorf open for attack. The attack itself is a much more powerful version of Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch. Kirby can copy this attack when he uses Swallow on Ganondorf. Kirby even copies the yell in his high, squeaky voice.

The attack's animation is different in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Gerudo Dragon
smashbox
Gerudo Dragon is a special attack restricted to Ganondorf, in the game Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is his Smash B move, and works the exact same way as Captain Falcon's Raptor Boost attack. Ganondorf will then punch forward, with his hand filled with dark matter, and will give anyone nearby a devastating punch. This will knock them straight forward, in oppose to Raptor Boost knocking the opponent upwards.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, this move is replaced with Flame Choke, which functions similarly except that the opponent will fall to the ground.
<br clear=all>
Flame Choke
Flame Choke is Ganondorf's side special move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the attack, he grabs characters by the forehead, then plummets their head down to the ground. The attack works better in midair, as there is a much bigger plummet. The attack does 10% damage on the ground, but is higher in the air.

This move replaces the move Gerudo Dragon from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
<br clear=all>
Dark Dive
Dark Dive is a special move that can only be used by Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The player must press Up+B to use the attack. Ganondorf will use a special energy to help him jump high, acting as his third jump. However, if he hits someone on the way, he will grab them, and then cause an explosion of dark matter, pushing the two in opposite directions. The attack is a much more powerful version of Captain Falcon's Falcon Dive. The attack can be used multiple times in one jump, as long as Ganondorf keeps hitting an opponent.
<br clear=all>
Wizard's Foot
Wizard's Foot is a special move used by Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The player must tilt the control stick down and then press the B Button in order to use the attack. Ganondorf will then proceed to attack in one of two ways. If done in the air, he will kick towards the ground, and will move diagonally in the direction he's facing. If done on the ground, he will slide across the ground, kicking anyone he hits into the air. The ground move is usually the best one of the two. The attack is similar to Captain Falcon's Falcon Kick. The attack expels dark matter at the opponent, in the same way that Falcon Kick expels fire.
<br clear=all>
Final Smash: Beast Ganon
Beast Ganon is Ganondorf's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When Ganondorf activates his Final Smash, he transforms into the Dark Beast Ganon, roaring after transforming. This roar paralyzes anyone on the ground on front of him, stopping them from moving out of the way, but any player in mid-air will not be stunned. The transformation alone smashes nearby players into the ground, assuming they are standing on the ground. After about a second after his transformation, Beast Ganon charges forward at incredible speeds, running straight across the stage, and off the edge. However, Beast Ganon transforms back into Ganondorf, and reappears where he was standing when he activated the Final Smash. The charges power is incredible, launching healthy players off the stage with ease. However, players behind Ganondorf will not be rammed.

Solid Snake Codec Conversation
*Snake: This guy is giving off a murderous vibe! Even getting close to him makes my skin crawl...
*Otacon: Snake! Ganondorf is dangerous! His ambition is to rule the world, and he's got the power to do it. It's no wonder they call him "King of Evil."
*Snake: Do modern weapons even work against him? Do I even have a chance?
*Otacon: Take a look around you. There are plenty of people fighting with swords or even their bare hands. At least you've got firepower! Count yourself lucky! It's not like you to whine, Snake.
*Snake: I was just asking, sheesh. Well, it's back to the mission for me.

Role in the Subspace Emissary
spoiler

In the Subspace Emissary storyline, he is the true commander of the Subspace Army, working for Master Hand to bring the world into Subspace, though he plots to betray him and seize his power. He gathers several other Nintendo villains such as Wario, with Bowser acting as his second in command and doing most of the dirty work while he works behind the scenes (Wario, however, prefers to ignore his duties and do whatever he wants until he was turned into a trophy and sucked into Subspace). When many of the heroes infiltrate The Subspace Bomb Factory on the Isle of Ancients, he reveals himself to them and commands the R.O.B.s to set up more Subspace Bombs and even has them attack the Ancient Minister (who turns out to be the R.O.B. leader as well) who then ends up assisting the fighters. The island is absorbed into Subspace, though not before the heroes escape. He emerges from Subspace with Bowser on a massive Subspace Gunship, and with that gunship, he fires at the world with the power of the Subspace Bombs and destroys Battleship Halberd, blowing it up to bits.

However, soon after that explosion, some of the game's heroes emerge from the explosion: Captain Olimar, Samus, and Captain Falcon all in their ships and Fox in his Arwing. They all shoot at the Subspace Gunship; however, the gunship is too powerful for them to destroy. The gunship tries to destroy all the ships when Kirby arrvies. Riding on Dragoon, he flies right straight into the gunship's cannon. Ganondorf and Bowser look surprised as the cannon explodes. The rest of the heroes keep firing at the Subspace Gunship until soon it is covered in fire. Before it blows up though, Bowser and Ganondorf manage to leave the ship. The Subspace Gunship then explodes into pieces just like the Halberd.

The two go see Master Hand, though Ganondorf betrays Bowser, using the last working Dark Cannon (his own) to turn him into a trophy. Master Hand himself is seen to be controlled by Tabuu, the embodiment of Subspace. Ganondorf, surprised at this revelation, leaps to attack the dark being, only to be turned into a trophy himself. When Bowser is revived by King Dedede, he furiously attacks Ganondorf's trophy in an act of vengeance. Link and Zelda come across the trophy and revive him, forming a temporary alliance as all the characters prepare for the final battle against Tabuu.After they are all turned back, everyone, including Ganondorf fights Tabuu in Tabuu's Residence. After Tabuu is defeated, the Super Smash Bros. World returns to its normal state and Tabuu dies.

|Said to be the sole man born to the Gerudo tribe in a hundred years, Ganondorf aspired to conquer the world. He plundered a piece of the sacred Triforce from the Temple of Time when Link pulled the Master Sword from its pedestal. With the Triforce of Power in Ganondorf's possession, Hyrule was plunged into darkness until Link and Zelda defeated the fiend.

|Since he's slow and can't jump very high, Ganondorf relies mainly on his immense physical strength to overwhelm his enemies. His great weight also makes him a difficult foe to send offscreen. Ganondorf's Warlock Punch is slow but absurdly powerful, and when he strikes with his Gerudo Dragon, enemies rise skyward enveloped in dark flames.

|Ganondorf's slow speed works against him in single combat, but in melees, his crazy power lets him earn his keep with innumerable KOs. Ganondorf can't strike quickly, but each blow he lands adds up. Ganondorf is at his quickest when he uses the Wizard's Foot, and his Dark Dive blasts foes in a burst of dark energy.

*In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Ganondorf has a costume based on his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, including darker hair, skin and a brown color scheme.
*In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it's possible to get Ganondorf as your first unlockable fighter just by clearing Classic Mode on Hard with Link.  However, he's one of the last fighters that you'll get in the main story of the Subspace Emissary.
