It ran from 1990-1991 and aired at about 4.30 PM every weeknight. The presenter, John Lenahan, was a look a-like of [[Mario]] (and dressed in his clothes). Two guest [[player]]s would have to do tasks all of which involved playing the Nintendo video games such as ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'', ''[[Super Mario Bros. 2]]'' and then later after its release in 1991 ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]''.

Rounds included which player could complete a level in the fastest time and who collect the most [[Gold Coin]]s on a certain level. The show was dropped in 1991, quite a while before The Children's Channel rebranding to TCC, this is evident in Link Anchor Man receiving several letters asking if the show would be repeated, which it never was.

The name "Super Mario Challenge" was also the name of a 2006 McDonald's Happy Meal series of toys. The [[toy]]s were toys of Mario, [[Donkey Kong]] and [[Yoshi]].

The Super Mario Challenge was a game show that aired on The Children's Channel from 1990–1991. The show was aired only in the United Kingdom and not in the United States as The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! was airing around that time in the United States. It was hosted by Mario himself, played by John Lenahan. Each night, the show had two guest players, who would have to play various games from the Super Mario franchise, such as Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3. The two players would compete to see who could get more Coins in a level, or who could finish the level in the faster time.
