Pillars[1] are destructible objects found in Wrecking Crew. If they are destroyed, anything that they support will fall. When a dead-end drum drops, anything underneath will be trapped. There is a slight delay in the collapse, which allows Mario or Luigi time to escape. Pillars do not support doors or other pillars. They are not required to be smashed to complete a phase and they award no points. Pillars make their debut in Phase 4.

Pillars appear in Wrecking Crew related challenges in NES Remix.
