Piranha Plants are carnivorous plants that make up four different families in Plant Taxonomy:  The True Piranha Plants and Smilax (such as [[Megasmilax]]), the Nipper Plants (such as the [[Naval Piranha]]), the Delfino Piranhas (such as [[Petey Piranha]]), and the Putrid Piranhas and False Piranha Plants (such as the [[Lava Piranha]]).  The Piranha Plants spawn via seedlings, but the other two families spawn via spores.  The only True Piranha Plant in the Nipper Family is the Naval Piranha.  There is a giant species in each family.

Known leaders of Piranha Plants include the [[Naval Piranha]], [[Petey Piranha]], and the [[Lava Piranha]].  Piranha Plants are native to the [[Piranha Grove]] of [[Yoshi's Island]].
