Rather than a volcano, the room contains the legendary captain cooking with the grill. If Mario speaks to him, the captain assumes he was drawn in by the aroma and tells him to wait until the food is done. After Mario wrings out the grill, the captain becomes angry, telling him it was almost ready. He settles on following Mario around closely as payback, leading to his encounter with the Violet Passage captain.
