The Shake King is an evil pirate captain and the primary antagonist of Wario Land: Shake It! The Shake King and his pirate gang, of many Bandineros, attempted to take over the Shake Dimension. In order to do so, they attacked the Shake Dimension and tied up its ruler, Queen Merelda, and imprisoned her loyal subjects (the Merfles), on their ship. The greedy pirates stole the Shake Dimension's treasure as well (known as the Bottomless Coin Sack, which could spit out an endless amount of coins every time it was shaken). However, one Merfle managed to escape from the pirate ship and got into Wario's world, to seek help in liberating the Shake Dimension from the Shake King's rule (which Wario agrees toward, but mainly for the Bottomless Coin Sack itself). If Wario collected all of the Boss icons, Wario could locate the Shake King's ship where the final confrontation awaits against the Shake King himself.

In normal levels, if the timer for reaching the exit with the saved Merfle reaches zero, the Shake King will take Wario to Shake King's Residence, then grab Wario, take all of his collected items away, and throw him back to the Checkpoint Block or farther away from it.

The Shake King parallels Wario in numerous ways, such as the blue tint ringing his eyes, aspects of his overall body and clothing design, and how he uses his own slower yet more powerful variations of each of Wario's standard moves. However, while Wario has a black moustache, the Shake King has a spiky blond beard. His eyes are black with yellow pupils, although in artwork, his eyes are reddish orange instead.

In addition, the Shake King is also set to appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Spirit.
