*The manual of ''Super Mario Land 2'' states "don't tread on this grub" in Grubby's description; this is likely a reference to the "Don't tread on me" phrase (commonly associated with snakes) featured on many of the United States of America's prototypical flags, such as the [[wikipedia:Gadsden flag|Gadsden flag]]. However, due to the fact that the manual rather overuses the word "tread", this may be a mere coincidence.

Sprite enlarged.

A Grubby is a spiked form of Unera. They are described as slugs and they appear in the Tree Zone, during the events of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They can be defeated by hitting a block they're on top of or by using a Star.
