This article is about Ostro the ostrich. For Birdo, the enemy that got put as Ostro in the credits of Super Mario Bros. 2, go here.

Ostros were ostriches that Shy Guys could ride in Super Mario Bros. 2. They hop along the ground and run back and forth when they don't have a rider. Use them for a boost to get over enemies or obstacles. In the credits of the game, Ostro's and Birdo's names were switched. This, like many other mistakes, was fixed in remakes of the game.

Ostro, like many enemies like it, was quickly forgotten and phased out of the Marioverse, and probably wouldn't even be noticed today if it weren't for the error in the credits.
