Just as he was starting to think about heading back, though, [[Mr. L]] (a brainwashed [[Luigi]]) appeared and took the Broken [[Pure Heart]] just for "kicks". [[Mario]] and [[Mr. L]] then battled; [[Mr. L]] wielded an improved model of the [[Brobot]], the [[Brobot L-Type]]. It was a fierce battle, but [[Mario]] won. All was not to cheer, though. The [[Pure Heart]] was no more alive than its original possessor, King Sammer. The stone-turned Pure Heart was useless in its current state, so Mario and his friends somberly left to see what [[Merlon]] would suggest to do.
