He first appears in [[Topsail Trouble (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Topsail Trouble]], where players start the stage in front of a [[Animal Crate|Rattly Crate]]. They can optionally use Rattly's assistance to climb the ship mast, up until the [[No Animal Sign]] next to the [[Star Barrel]]. Rattly later appears in [[Rattle Battle (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Rattle Battle]], his most major role in a level, because [[Diddy Kong]] and [[Dixie Kong]] have to enter a [[Animal Barrel|Rattly Barrel]] in a room at the start to play as Rattly for a majority of the level. In [[Gloomy Gulch]] level [[Gusty Glade (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Gusty Glade]], Rattly can optionally be ridden. In [[Toxic Tower (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Toxic Tower]], players are required to transform into Rattly to perform high jumps to escape from the rising [[toxic waste]], up until the Star Barrel, where players use other animal buddies.
