In their debut appearance, ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest'', Klanks only appear in two levels, [[Target Terror (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Target Terror]] and [[Rickety Race (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest)|Rickety Race]]. Klanks can only be defeated if the Kongs jump on them with their Roller Coaster, or ram into them while the Roller Coaster is traveling at a high speed. Klanks appear in a variety of colors: blue, orange, pink, yellow, and green. Every Klank behaves identically, regardless of color. In Target Terror, Klanks drop [[barrel]]s behind at the [[Kong]]s, attempting to knock them out of their Roller Coaster. In Rickety Race, Klanks do not perform this attack, but [[Diddy Kong|Diddy]] and [[Dixie Kong]] can either jump on ten Klanks or pass them to obtain a [[DK Coin]] before reaching the end. The only time when Klanks try to run into the Kongs is in Rickety Race's [[Bonus Area]], because in both levels, Klanks ride in the same direction as them. During the end credits, a Klank appears under the "[[Kremling Kuthroats]]" category with the other Kremlings.

In the [[Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)|Game Boy Advance version]], Klanks appear in six colors, including two shades of green, light blue, orange, yellow, and red. Most of these color types differ from the five in the original game.
