In 2011, WarioWare director Goro Abe was tasked to create pre-installed software for Wii U, and he, in turn, asked Intelligent Systems for assistance. As the development team knew the demo would be played by a wider audience than their usual titles, they deliberately restrained their usual "wacky" aesthetics.
