DKWiki:Administrators' noticeboard

From Donkey Kong Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The Admin Noticeboard is intended to be a page to quickly alert administrators to issues that need their attention.

Report vandals in the following section labeled for such reports at the top using {{IP|Username}}, where Username is the name of the user or the IP vandal's IP address. For deletion requests and username change requests, also use their respective sections.

To make a request, simply create a new section and write a neutral, precise summary of events with thought-out reasoning, and, if possible, links to any pages with relevant discussions. It's a good idea to give any users involved in the request a link to the page. All new sections not fitting into any of the three main sections go on the bottom.

Vandal reports[edit]

Please place new vandal reports at the top of this section. Will be cleared from time to time.

One Last Go Around[edit]

Most likely the guy who was behind the last two vandal accounts. In addition, I think we should raise the protection on our templates (for a while at least) since he seems to have it out for those pages too. PeanutPopgun998 18:16, 19 November 2015 (EST)

Bluster Kong[edit]

He's been spamming all day. Also, given the titles of the articles he's made, it's safe to say that he's the same guy who started posting Hitler crap here a few days ago. PeanutPopgun998 17:18, 2 May 2014 (EDT)

Oh, yeah, about that, that was me. Sorry about disrupting this place. I'm making this wiki an exception. I vandalize lots of wikis, but since I'm actually a huge Donkey Kong fan, I'm going to stop spamming this wiki and make useful edits from now on. I'm also going to revert several of my spam edits that have not yet been reverted. Duckman's house (talk) 21:08, 4 May 2014 (EDT)

Deletion requests[edit]

Deletion request[edit]

Hi - while running a script that I use to easily license images as fair use, I accidentally created [[File:DK]] while trying to tag File:DK&DiddyRope.jpg (this was caused by the ampersand in the latter file). If someone could delete File:DK, that would be great. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 03:24, 28 December 2010 (EST)

Done. Omega TyrantTyranitarMS.png 17:39, 28 December 2010 (EST)

Old candidates for speedy deletion[edit]

There are currently several pages and files up for deletion at Category:Candidates for deletion, some of which have been tagged for months. These pages may want to be attended to eventually. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 20:27, 30 January 2011 (EST)

Image deletion request[edit]

I uploaded a Tiki Pop image yesterday and after I did that, I found out that it was also used on the Donkey Kong Neowiki! Can somebody delete this image so I can find a different one? Thanks. Cranky Kong - Donkey Kong Country.png DK101 (Talk) Donkey Kong.jpg 19:21, 13 April 2011 (EST)

Clear out Deletions[edit]

If someone could clear them out. Category:Candidates_for_deletion --Starphoria 19:25, 9 December 2011 (EST)

Also, WikiBound Link is broken on the Main Page. --Starphoria 11:56, 10 December 2011 (EST)
Nevermind, Fixed. --Triphoria (C·E) 18:11, 12 December 2011 (EST)

Delete please[edit]

Delete these hacked images, preferably before their uploader's block ends to prevent him/her from removing the template. James Heart (CT) 20:57, 23 November 2013 (EST)

I got a chunk, and I'll finish the rest tomorrow when I have the chance. --HavocReaper48 22:59, 23 November 2013 (EST)
Who cares if they're hacked? This is a wiki, meant for information. If it helps as an encyclopedic image, then why should it be deleted? Duckman's house (talk) 13:46, 13 May 2014 (EDT)

Image Finding Request[edit]

sorry I really dident mean to, but I deleted the golden temple image so could someone sort it out? [2]

Interwiki[edit]

Shouldn't the other NIWA wikis be in the Special:Interwiki table, as seen here and here, for instance? - Reboot 04:22, 28 November 2010 (EST)

There really has to be a "add ten new links" button for that thing. Did I miss any? --Covah 13:26, 28 November 2010 (EST)
One - smashwiki, http://www.ssbwiki.com/$1 [You based it directly on their interwiki table, didn't you? :)] - Reboot 20:18, 28 November 2010 (EST)

DisplayTitle enabled?[edit]

Hi again - does anyone know if $wgAllowDisplayTitle is enabled? By the looks of it from my own testing, it seems to not be the case. If it is disabled, I was wondering if it could be enabled? The reason being is that I'd like to modify our video game infobox so that the titles of games are automatically italicized at the very top of the article (if there is no objection). Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk 20:57, 18 January 2011 (EST)

I don't think so. How would I implement that? --HavocReaper 22:59, 18 January 2011 (EST)
Unfortunately, I'm not experienced with implementing any of the backroom settings and extensions - I believe adding or removing extensions would be done by following the directions here. I'm not even sure if you even have access to that, though. Is there any one person who deals with the technical things regarding the site? If there is, he or she would be the one to contact. ~SuperHamster Talk 20:25, 19 January 2011 (EST)

F-Zero Wiki[edit]

Can someone add F-Zero Wiki to the side bar and to the interwiki table? --Starphoria 22:23, 17 March 2012 (EDT)

stub[edit]

HI!!! There is a stub about the mario party series.(find it on article stubs) I don't know alot about the series ,but we do need someone to edit it. If you could gather information about the series and post it on there, then that would help our wiki grow. thanks.--Robe 19:09, 29 March 2012 (EDT)

This is the admin noticeboard, and is where you post requests for things that only administrators can do, such as blocking, deleting pages, etc. It isn't the place to request a stub expansion. --Starphoria 11:05, 11 April 2012 (EDT)

NIWA Check in request[edit]

Hello, I'm dkpat from Golden Sun Universe/NIWA. I recently made a thread on the NIWA forums requests that an admin from each wiki "check-in" and give an update on their wiki activity. I would appreciate it if someone from DK wiki could check in. Thank you. Link 136.165.223.143 12:27, 25 October 2012 (EDT)

The Lylat Wiki[edit]

Hello, DKWiki! I'm RingtailedFox, Flight Commander of the Cornerian Defense Forces and assistant administrator of The Lylat Wiki. I'm here to report that you should check and update your links to our wiki, as our address has changed to http://www.starfoxwiki.info/ :) RingtailedFox (talk) 02:55, 31 October 2012 (EDT)

Thank you for bringing that up, the link should be fixed now. --HavocReaper 17:46, 31 October 2012 (EDT)

NIWA sidebar[edit]

It mislinks Nookipedia. I'd change it myself, but I'm not sure what template it is. JamesHeart123 (talk) 19:40, 28 March 2013 (EDT)

Got it. --HavocReaper48 00:35, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

Categories for certain types of pages[edit]

I think we should have a category for each; user talk pages, user pages, files, categories, category talk pages, main articles, main talks, etc. etc.. Duckman's house (talk) 16:20, 8 May 2014 (EDT)

My opinions:
  • User-related: No, pointless waste of space on non-mainspace/unimportant matters. Categorizing user pages seems like an idea imported from Bulbapedia or some other NIWA Wiki for the heck of it. Prioritize everything else first.
  • Files/Categories: Already are categorized, I've just gotten lazy with adding categories to files.
  • Main articles: Is there something I'm missing? Mainspace articles like Donkey Kong? Categorized...
  • Main talks: No, I don't quite get the point of categorizing talk pages.
In short, mainspace pertaining things are more important. If you have anything more to add, given your "etc, etc", please, proceed. --HavocReaper48 23:30, 10 May 2014 (EDT)

What is the purpose?[edit]

I just discovered that MarioWiki has all the same articles that we have, except even better. I'm not asking you guys to delete this wiki by any means, but I have every right to criticize right? What is the point in having a separate Donkey Kong Wiki when we already have all of the articles on the sister MarioWiki? So if I'm just remaking a bunch of articles uselessly, then I don't see any more of a point in being here honestly. I will not vandalize here again, I already promised I wouldn't, but if this seems pointless to me, I'll just stop. Although, I could also say that they should just delete all of those Donkey Kong articles and have them transferred here. They already have all of the episodes of the show created I believe, and I thought I was doing some individual work??? So what is the answer to this? What is the deal with us just copying/changing articles that are already on another wiki? In my opinion that's useless, but I'm asking you guys why this is. Maybe I'm wrong about criticizing the wiki. That's why I'm asking for other opinions. Duckman's house (talk) 13:44, 13 May 2014 (EDT)
