Donkey Kong Land 2
Here, Diddy's DK Coins will be added up and the total will be rivaled against the following three characters: Link, who is in third by default, has 19, Yoshi in second has 29, and Mario in first having 39. Diddy must collect all forty DK Coins in order to win the ranking and impress Cranky Kong, who runs it. Players can access this after they beat the game or pressing "L" and "R" on the map screen.
In the Game Boy Advance version, a number of things were tweaked. The setting is no longer a black room, rather outside near a shore. Also, due to the game's increased DK Coins, Mario's have been raised to 67, Link has 50 (and is now second by default), and Yoshi has 39 (is now third by default). Lastly, the "no hopers" trash can was removed.
In Donkey Kong Land 2, it was unchanged except for the fact that the name was shortened to simply "Video Game Heroes" in Donkey Kong Land 2 due to Cranky Kong's absence from the game.
This location is famous for it's many cameos: not only do characters of Nintendo's two major franchises, Mario and Yoshi from the Mario series and Link from The Legend of Zelda series, but also Sonic the Hedgehog's shoes and Earthworm Jim's gun are pictured next to "No hopers" and a trash can, likely an insult to Sega and Interplay.
When Link is overtaken in DK coins and is removed from the stand, the "No hopers" bin will have a green rag hanging out of it, which is Link's tunic.
