Five Ace Coins appear in every [[level]], and the player is required to obtain them to fully complete, or "ace," the level. There are 100 Ace Coins in total throughout the game. When the player collects all five Ace Coins in a level, they get an [[extra life]]. Ace Coins are often near where the player is likely to get injured or lose a life. Whenever a player replays a level, every collected Ace Coin becomes transparent and rewards only [[point]]s when collected. If the player gets a [[Game Over]] in a level that they have not completed, they lose every collected Ace Coin from that level.
